t
he Estate Planning & Probate Section has put together
a number of exciting events for April and May 2013.
We are also looking to the coming fiscal year, making
plans to continue to provide our members a wide array of
ways to network, learn, have fun, and serve the community.
We had a great turnout at our April 10, 2013, breakfast, where
John A. (“Jack”) Terrill, II helped members better advise
their clients regarding asset protection issues. As of the date
this update was written, we were anticipating two additional
Section events for this fiscal year: a luncheon meeting on
April 24, 2013, at Villa Christina, at which Professor Mary F.
Radford of the Georgia State University College of Law will
give us an update on Georgia fiduciary laws, and our May
8th breakfast meeting, at which Brian deutsch and Millie
Baumbusch of Gaslowitz Frankel, LLC will join Judge Jeryl
Rosh of the DeKalb County Probate Court in discussing
some of the many difficult issues surrounding guardianships
and conservatorships. For the June 12th breakfast, Bruce
H. Gaynes of Kitchens Kelley Gaynes, P.C. will discuss the
new Physician Order Life Sustaining Treatment forms which
were developed by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
In July, in lieu of a breakfast meeting, our Section will host
its annual reception at the King & Prince on Saint Simons
Island, for the Fiduciary Law Institute. The reception will take
place on Wednesday, July 10th.

the sponsors in mind when looking for service providers for
ourselves and our clients.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our regular
sponsors here: Adams Capital, Inc., Brightworth, Crescent
Wealth Management, IKOR of Central Atlanta, Moore
Stephens Tiller, and Regions Trust. Thank you all very much
for your support of our Section. You have been active and
strong supporters of the Section, most of you for many years,
and we are deeply grateful. We would not be able to offer
our members many of the benefits we provide without you.
A final thank you should also go to our special sponsor:
Diversified Trust Company, Inc. Your support of the Section’s
annual Estate Planning Forum has been invaluable, and we
truly could not do it without you. ■
Section members will also continue to volunteer at both the
Fulton County Probate Court’s Probate Information Center
and the DeKalb County Probate Court’s Probate Information
Clinic. Michael Lucas of the atlanta Volunteer Lawyers
Foundation will attend the April luncheon in order to recruit
volunteers to help at the Fulton Center in late summer and
fall.
At this time of year, the Section likes to take some extra time
to thank its sponsors and listen to their feedback on ways we
can improve their experiences and the value they receive
for their sponsor dollars. As part of that effort, our Section
board is working to meet with sponsors outside of the Section
events, in addition to encouraging Section members to keep
