We hope our Walk will
encourage different
communities to come together
”
A charity walker from Gloucestershire,
Johannes Shanmugam ,a British Tamil, will be
walking his fourth year endless effort to raise
fund for charities in Western English County in
November. Showing in one hand a poppy and
other hand Glory Lily, Johannes symbolise his
message clearly to the Great Britain.
He raises fund for ‘Help For Heroes’ and
“Serendip Children’s Home” both UK based
charities. Well known Help For Heroes formed
to help those who have been wounded in
Britain’s current conflicts while Serendib
Children’s Home is supporting the war
affected children in Sri Lanka.
In sharing his feelings
Johannes said that he
wanted to thank Great
Britain for allowing Tamils
to live in freedom with
dignity and British People a
great prosperity and care
shown when Tamils came as
refugees.
Therefore as gratitude, he
decided to support British
soldiers who fought bravely
and sacrificed their lives for
the freedom that we enjoy
here today.
Four years and on …

Charity walk
He also chose the “computers 4 schools”
programme through “Serendip Children’s
Home” in Sri Lanka is a great opportunity for
us to support the war affected ch ildren, and
to give them an education so that they can
enjoy the same benefits as our children.
He says “We hope our Walk will encourage
different communities to come together,
putting aside any differences and barriers.

Mr. Johannes Shanmugam
Currently employed as Operations
Assistant in a church Johannes
is engaged in various fund
raising events for the children
impoverished by war.
This is our fourth year, and we hope to raise
sufficient funds as in the past three years. The
5-day walk is to create awareness
and to remind our younger
generation of the sacrifices made by
many, so that we can enjoy liberty
and freedom today in the UK.”
