In 2023 alone , the Teesside-based company sponsored 27 former apprentices to complete Higher National Certificates ( HNCs ) and they also sponsored degree courses for a further eight employees .

The company works in partnership with several local training providers , including TTE , Northern Skills , Middlesbrough College and NETA Training Group .
The award-winning Sembcorp apprenticeship scheme combines skills-based learning and on-thejob experience , with apprentices spending time both in the classroom and on site . This mix of theory and practical learning prepares you to work across different offices , projects and operational areas .
Sembcorp is based on and owns most of Wilton International , a 2,000-acre site near Redcar . Wilton International has a rich industrial heritage and an exciting future in supporting the UK on its transition to net zero .
Wilton International attracts major investment and has a vibrant ecosystem of different but interconnected businesses and suppliers , with a variety of operational plant , including gas turbines , water treatment plant and a biomass power station .
Sembcorp ’ s philosophy is to grow their own , with apprentices bringing fresh perspectives and a new generation of talent . More than a third of the current shift operations team are former apprentices , and a significant number of managers began their Sembcorp careers as apprentices .
