HAIR Shake up your style It’s a new decade, so why not enjoy a new ’do!’ Our resident expert Janice Auton encourages you to switch up your style and ease your hair woes… Hi Janice, I’ve had the same hairstyle for more than 20 years – centre parting, straight, shoulder-length bob. I’m bored but scared of change. Help! By simply moving your parting slightly off centre you will be amazed how much your look can change. If that’s not quite enough, your lifestyle, work and how much time you are prepared to spend on styling is paramount, so ask your friends who their favourite stylist is and visit a few for a consultation. When you meet the right hairdresser, you will feel confident in them and ready to change. I’m growing out my fringe and it’s driving me crazy! I get to a certain stage and have it cut back in again because I can’t bear it. Any tips on how to persevere? If it’s a full fringe have it angled to the side which will allow it to grow more softly. Flicked back bangs are a favourite look this year and ideal for growing out fringes. Simply blow dry away from your face. You could also try a padded headband to keep your hair out of your eyes. PARIS TIARA BY OLIVIER LAUDUS, £110 I’m getting married in the summer and really fancy a tiara. What’s the best way to style my hair? Tiaras are a classic hair accessory. From full updos to half updos, from classic chignons to tousled curls – all styles work well with a tiara. Choose to wear one on its own or with a veil. Of course, you must choose the correct style of tiara to go with your hair, so make sure you discuss this with your stylist before you purchase one. Another thing to remember is that the finer your hair, the lighter your tiara should be. Luckily, we have fabulous hair wefts that can be bought and colour matched from hair suppliers such as Additional Lengths in Stockton to add thickness and length. Is there anything I can do or take to make my hair grow quicker and longer, or is the length of your hair genetic? Hair grows about a quarter to half an inch per month, but the length of our hair is as much a genetic gift as is the colour, thickness and proneness to thinning. For optimum growth, it’s important to get rid of split ends or your hair will simply continue to split and not grow. To avoid Poppys Stockton, 7-8 Silver Court, Stockton TS18 1SL.
