Jack Taylor, associate director at Parker Barras, told Tees Business about three exciting but very different deals that illustrate the company’ s flexibility and enviable network of contacts.
“ A recent success story of ours has been the hospitality business known as The Poorhouse in Great Ayton,” he said.“ It’ s the place where Captain Cook went to school!
“ It was a business that had been run by a husband and wife for six years and we helped assist them to sell it to another great couple.
“ They’ d previously had it up for sale with another agent. However, it was priced too high, so we advised on a more accurate and realistic valuation.
“ I think a lot of the time it does start with giving people a realistic price and not a figure simply to obtain the listing.
“ Thankfully, we did the job relatively quickly and from start to completion, it only took around two months.”
Thanks to Parker Barras, the deal was concluded to the satisfaction of both parties and the Poorhouse continues to be a popular destination in picturesque Great Ayton.
“ The seller couldn’ t have been happier,” said Jack.“ They were really ready to sell, spend some time with their family and take a step back.
“ The buyers are super excited to open up something slightly different, which is more of a coffee shop offering because they have already got a bar in the village.”
