As part of the INDUSTRO Engineering Group , civil engineering business Vertex has grown 30 % year-onyear as it provides bespoke services to its own clients , as well as the civil aspects of INDUSTRO ’ s large structural engineering projects .

However , more importantly than the financial statistics and performance , it ’ s a place where people look forward to going to work and see their careers thrive within an environment where working and growing as a collective is top of the agenda .
For civil engineers , it ’ s an exciting place to be , as the Vertex team are the first on site , providing key infrastructure elements such as foundations , drainage works and roads , that enable other aspects of developments to be released .
Run by managing director Will Brown and construction manager Jonathan Taylor , who went to school and completed their on-thejob training together , are keen to emulate the family values of the Teesside based company they served their time with .
As such , Vertex is a place where fathers bring their sons too , the company has two father-and-son duos working together .
Will says : “ We ’ re proud of the strides we have made as a company , whether working with our own clients or with INDUSTRO to provide turnkey engineering solutions .
“ More importantly , however , we ’ re proud of the culture we have created , as a place where people want to come to work and be part of the team .”
When working together , the INDUSTRO group , which also includes Intek Electrical Engineering and INDUSTRO Design Engineering has the ability to oversee large projects across rail , petrochemicals , ports , mining and highways – including work on toptier COMAH sites .
It can take care of every aspect of a project , from conception and design through to all aspects of the construction to handover commissioning , and maintenance thereafter .
When group CEO John Betts set up INDUSTRO , he initially required contractors to carry out the civil and electrical engineering works , so ultimately it made sense to create and bring these services in house in the form of Vertex and Intek , to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of projects for their clients .
The result is a much larger company that can punch above its weight and is greater than the sum of its parts .
“ All the businesses under INDUSTRO Group complement each other ,” John explains .
