ENGINEERING
“ When you ’ re talking about a turnkey engineering solution , that ’ s what we provide . By having civil and electrical engineering arms in-house , to complement the structural steel , and design capability for all disciplines .
“ With this we maintain the same high quality and control in costs and can offer all engineering services for our clients , importantly through a single point of contact .”
This ethos has also created a positive culture across the INDUSTRO Group , and the companies pride themselves in supporting employees ’ professional development .
John says : “ At Vertex , we have a second year degree apprentice who is completing a part-time degree at Teesside University , a BEng in Civil Engineering , which is exactly the same route that I took into engineering ” Will adds .
“ We have other members of the team completing NVQs at various levels in construction , groundworks and site management . We have eight apprentices across the group in total .
“ It ’ s important to us to invest in talent who will develop their careers and thrive within the INDUSTRO group , growing with us as we take on more and more largescale projects .”
At Vertex there is a sense of pride at being involved in passing skills onto the next generation , something John and Will believe is the fabric of industrial Teesside .
“ That ’ s how Teesside has always been
We have built our business up quietly to the point where we are fully equipped for large-scale engineering projects
– and you often fall into something that your dad is doing , as such you strive to be good at it ,” Will says .
“ Our staff at all levels are proud of the work they do and the skills they learn on the job , and we all enjoy the fact that , as a provider of all the different engineering aspects of large projects , we have more scope to be creative with how we operate .”
On the flip side , clients are very happy INDUSTRO is able to oversee every aspect of a project seamlessly .
“ We continuously get repeat work from our clients because of the seamless way that the group is set up and operates in the background ,” John says .
“ They understand the benefits of having a single supplier doing all the work , without having to go to separate suppliers , contracts and contractors and spend their time keeping them all cooperating to get the job done .
“ Our clients can have their whole projects executed with everyone involved in the job working under one roof .”
People-focused – Vertex managing director Will Brown ( left ) and construction manager Jonathan Taylor ( right ) flank INDUSTRO Group CEO John Betts .
With that in mind , it ’ s no surprise INDUSTRO Group has “ quietly ” grown to a £ 10m-turnover business , with the capacity to take on wide-ranging , large engineering projects .
“ We have built our business up quietly to the point where we are fully equipped for large-scale engineering projects ,” John says .
Coming from different disciplines has allowed the INDUSTRO Group to form a skilful and forward-thinking team .
“ We don ’ t have any preconceptions of how things ‘ should ’ be done so we can adapt our methods and work differently as a Group to make each stage of delivery more efficient ,” says Will ”
The businesses also support one another from a practical and operational perspective , which reduces risk and adds value for clients .
Having centralised back-room and administrative processes is a huge advantage and helps the INDUSTRO Group to stay competitive .
John says : “ Vertex has enjoyed organic growth , which demonstrates that we are successfully tendering and winning new contracts , whilst also maintaining relationships with valued clients .
“ We look forward to continuing our work with blue chip customers , which enables us to build a team and recruit great people – all working in the same HQ at the Port of Middlesbrough .”
