WINNER
TEKBUILD ( Middlesbrough )
A firm that won a coveted VelociTees award after doubling its turnover in a year is looking forward to a potentially “ incredible ” 2024 .
TekBuild – a lightweight steel frame design , engineering , manufacture and installation company based in Middlesbrough but installing widely across the UK – won the Turnover VelociTees award for SMEs after leaping from £ 2.6m to £ 5.2m in a year .
And head of marketing and sales Lucy Adams said much of TekBuild ’ s success was down to teamwork .
“ We have a fantastic rapport with all the clients we build up and the team definitely contributes to that ,” said Lucy .
“ Our director Paul ( Hutchinson ) has been in the steel industry for most of his life now . He knows what he ’ s talking about and has built up such a level of trust with clients .”
Lucy admitted it had been a relatively quick-fire success story for TekBuild , which was founded as recently as 2017 , with just three people involved , but has since grown to have 15 full-time employees operating from its base in Skippers Lane , with seven more working on projects across the country .
And there ’ s much more to come , with the firm currently working on “ the largest new-build hospital in Europe ”, among other major projects .
Lucy said : “ The pipeline for 2024 looks incredible ! We ’ re working with huge companies – contractors like MCR , Graham and CBRE – so hopefully we ’ ll be carrying on doing what we ’ re doing , just bigger and better .”
A global specialist in critical power infrastructure and modular data centres , Durata is continuing to expand after winning a series of contracts in mainland Europe , with staffing levels up 30 per cent year on year .
Its reputation for delivering industry-wide knowledge and producing high standards around the world is highlighted by a hugely impressive increase in turnover for the last two years .
