£ 100K GRANTS BOOST AS FIRM MOVES TO NEW HQ
A
successful Tees firm has urged others to investigate grant support after receiving a sixfigure boost to help it grow .
Elemy – winner of the Small Business award at the inaugural Tees Business Awards in April – provides engineering solutions bringing its glass-reinforced polymers ( GRP ) to worldwide markets .
It has grown from starting in a home office in 2019 to offering a full service from 3D modelling and design / engineering to fabrication and installation .
The firm has now moved to its base at Warrenby , Redcar , and has received £ 20,000 through the Tees Valley Business Growth Fund ( via the European Regional Development Fund ) and a Large Capital Grant award for £ 82,983 to help realise its growth ambitions at the site .
Elemy produces both GRP and steel anti-slip products , staircases , walkways ,
handrails and structures below ground .
Director Richard Brine identified a gap in the market to supply high calibre products , often as a substitute for concrete and steel directly from overseas manufacturers .
The business has grown over the past year-and-a-half , with the purchase of a two-acre used scrap tyre site in Warrenby to enable the firm to manufacture its own products .
Richard said : “ Moving to this site has secured the longer-term plans of Elemy and allows us to further develop our growing product and service offering across rail , energy , utilities and construction .
“ We are very grateful to TVCA and other stakeholders who have seen our potential and supported this scaling-up phase , providing continuity in our ambitions , securing employment and allowing further local job opportunities to be created .”
