“This is probably the most poorly-edited movie I have ever seen,” Violet said, reaching for another
chocolate from the candy bowl.
“I know, but they’re good to laugh at,” Kate, another girl, mentioned.
“Are you really scared of this stuff, Alan?” Felix asked.
“No, I just don’t like gore. Too much for me,” Alan replied as he pushed up his glasses.
The four kids were laying on the couches, watching cheap Halloween movies at Violet’s house. Her
parents had gone out shopping for a while, and trusted her to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. Instead, she
had done what any other kid would do. Invite all their friends and eat the candy together.
“We’re out of candy, guys,” Kate mentioned, pointing to the candy bowl. “Got any more, Violet?”
“Yeah, it’s in the kitchen,” she answered. “I’ll go get it.” She then got up from her seat on the couch, and
made her way to the kitchen.
Reaching inside a cabinet located at the top, Violet felt around for the extra bag of candy her parents got
earlier. She could only feel a couple boxes of cereal, but no candy.
Then, she felt it. Only with a brush of her hand against the back of the cabinet, she immediately jumped
back. She felt something cold, something moving.
“What…” Violet muttered under her breath. She took another step forward, and looked inside the cabinet.
A soft red glow emitted from it, a piece of loose wood that revealed a grey brick. Carved into the brick was a
pentagram, the source of the red glow.
“Did you find the candy or not?” Kate stormed into the kitchen, looking clearly annoyed.
“Look,” Violet pointed at the cabinet.
Kate looked, and shook her head. “It’s probably been there for a while. Now, did you get the-”
She was suddenly cut off by a deep growling sound, one that sounded like a broken chainsaw.
Both girls turned their heads to the source of the noise, the now blood-red symbol carved into the brick.
Alan and Felix then ran in, giving confused (and slightly terrified) looks. The sound grew louder, to the
point where everybody had to cover their ears before they blew up.
Then, it stopped.
Everyone gave glances to each other, each wondering what had happened. Before anyone could even
speak, the glowing red light in the cabinet exploded, washing everyone in a wave of blood light. Violet was the
first to look up.
She sure did regret it the second she looked at what was before her.
Staring right at her with painfully white eyes, was a creature, a pitch-black, slender being that looked like
it jumped out of a nightmare. It stood ten-feet-tall, boasting huge goat horns and needle-like teeth on its head.
Large claws accompanied its slender arms, while a long, pointed tail was laid right beside its skinny legs. Dark
bat wings hovered around its back, resting in place.
