Silence hung in the air between the creature and the kids. A thick, suffocating silence that nobody could bear.
It was all broken when the kids finally realized what was right in front of them. Alan was the first to scream, suddenly running out of the kitchen at full-speed. The creature had moved so quickly, nobody first noticed its long claws reaching out for Alan, and dragging him back over its head.
It was a disturbing sight, really, to see Alan swallowed up so quickly. It all happened in a dark flash, ending with the creature’ s jaws revealing rows and rows of needle-like teeth and Alan being shoved down it.
That’ s when everyone just screamed in unison, and ran anywhere, anywhere away from where that thing was. Violet, Kate, and Felix all sprinted to the front door, and tried to open it. To everyone’ s horror, it was jammed. Kate had even grabbed an umbrella and tried smashing the glass on the door open. It wouldn’ t crack.
The group then sprinted over to the bathroom, and locked and barricaded the door with as many items as they could. Which, as you could probably tell, wasn’ t a lot of items.“ I … What …” Kate barely managed to cough out. Her eyes were clouded with pure terror.“ It ate Alan … Oh god …” Felix muttered. He froze for a bit, grabbing onto the counter to rest himself.“ What was that?!” Kate yelled. She seemed breathless.“ What do you think?!” Felix yelled back.“ That was a literal demon!”“ Guys, if you don’ t stop yelling, it’ s gonna kill us!” Violet scolded. She then took out her phone.“ I’ m calling 911.” No response. She tried again. Still, the same thing. Violet called everyone else she knew. Nobody answered, still.“ That demon is probably doing something to keep us out of contact with other people,” she muttered.
Although it didn’ t seem like it, Violet was trying very hard to keep herself together.
Felix had already lost it. He was silently sobbing, turned away from the others. Kate was pacing back and forth, chewing on a piece of her hair while hyperventilating. Violet could only sit on the floor, not being able to comprehend what happened. She always depended on cold hard facts for everything. How could she be able to explain a demon popping up out of nowhere and eating one of her friends?
“ Well, what are we gonna do now?!” Kate suddenly asked. She stopped pacing right under the vent.“ Wait, shut up,” Violet muttered. She froze, furrowing her brows as she looked up to the ceiling.“ What?” Kate asked. She had barely finished her sentence, before a black figure quickly sprung out of the vent, and grabbed Kate with its giant claws. The demon, like with Alan, shoved Kate down its throat, and swallowed her whole. This time, the kids were much more quick to react. Violet was the first to move, screaming and running out of the bathroom, with Felix right behind her.
They both ran to the door and tried opening it again, but to no avail. It was still stuck.“ We’ re trapped …” Felix muttered.“ What does that demon want from us, even?”“ I don’ t know,” Violet replied. She dragged Felix to her parents’ room, where they could find more stuff to protect themselves.
