We offer these platforms in a wide range of sizes specifically tailored to the final application, starting from the part, the production mix, the destination sector and the client ' s goals. This is where the concept of a tailored approach comes in. The technology is consolidated and many options are shared across the platforms. I ' m thinking of the CLA tools for auxiliary bends and complex geometries, the P tools for advanced applications, or the CUT option, which enables the cutting of profiles and transforms the panel bender into a true manufacturing centre. This approach is particularly appreciated by subcontractors. By definition, subcontractors must be flexible, so they often request extensive configurations to expand the machine ' s application range and cover diverse order types, both today and in the future, without‘ stiffening’ the process. Furthermore, both platforms can evolve in terms of automation. P-Robot was created specifically to extend the flexibility and productivity of the panel bender, while simplifying programming and usability. It’ s a modular solution that can operate in different modes, automatic or mixed and can be installed on all our panel benders. And then there is one last, very important point: today, panel bending no longer stops at the perimeter of the bend but in general is increasingly becoming part of broader projects. P4, for example, can be integrated into manufacturing lines, such as the S4 + P4, designed for continuous, streamlined production without intermediate handling. P2 is often part of our flexible smart job shops( FSJ), where technology, software, automation, robotics and artificial vision work together to manage dynamic and highly variable production. Offering panel bending platforms today confirms how central the panel bending process is in a modern workshop. Not as a niche technology, but as a powerful lever to increase flexibility, simplify work and slash the cost per part.”
TANGENTIAL BENDING Piero Merlino then emphasised the pioneering role of Evomach in the development of tangential bending, a hybrid technology that sits somewhere between press braking and panel bending and therefore brings several aspects with it that make it extraordinarily efficient. " Tangential bending is a hybrid technology that straddles press braking and panel bending. It incorporates some principles from both approaches and has its own characteristics that make it suitable for the typical processes performed in many sheet metal shops. The operating principle is different from that of a traditional press brake. In tangential bending, the sheet metal doesn ' t move during the process because it ' s the tool that performs bending, both positive and negative. The sheet metal panel isn ' t flipped; it ' s simply positioned by the operator and rotated once for each side being bent. The benefits of this system are tangible: it doesn ' t require as many tool changes as a press brake, the effort is minimised, skilled operators are not needed and much higher repeatability is achieved. It ' s fair to say, however, that while tangential bending seems potentially capable of solving all problems, it actually needs to be supported by existing technologies. Compared to a press brake, it doesn ' t cover all thicknesses— tangential bending reaches up to 6 mm— and it doesn ' t cover all lengths. Compared to a panel bender, it offers lower production rates. Therefore, tangential bending is truly a third option— a hybrid technology that combines the flexibility of a press brake with the process vision of a panel bender.”
THE ADVANTAGES OF TANGENTIAL BENDING Merlino then explained that " the larger the pieces to be bent, the more convenient it is to install a jib type tangential bender, while still respecting the workable thickness limits. The advantage isn ' t just geometric: it depends on the way the piece is handled during the process. On a press brake, a large piece requires multiple
