The teacher explained that the city game would help students investigate these questions by exploring historical places, examining sources and listening to the experiences and opinions of others.
Stage 2. Exploring Tarnobrzeg: Discovering traces of history
Students set off in their international groups to explore the selected locations in Tarnobrzeg. At each stop, they completed tasks designed to help them identify historical details, understand the significance of the location and consider its connection with collective memory.
They observed monuments, memorial plaques, public spaces and other relevant features. Where appropriate, they photographed the locations and recorded information that helped them answer the questions on their task cards.
Students investigated what had happened at the selected places, whose experiences had been commemorated and why the events or individuals were considered significant. They also discussed how historical sites communicated messages about identity, sacrifice, resistance and freedom.
