Teacher Leadership Pathway : Third-Year Teacher-Leader Program

Many Teacher-Leaders have expressed the desire to continue their careers in education beyond our two-year Leadership Development Program . However , continuing to teach in their placement communities post-program is often not financially viable . Moreover , those who are interested in school leadership do not have enough years in the classroom to pursue the pathway yet ( i . e . seven years ). These barriers gave our Program Team the idea of piloting an extended Teacher-Leader program through strategic placements .
In September 2020 , we launched the pilot with Teacher-Leaders who demonstrated the potential and desire to grow as leaders . We crafted additional training for them around our new Change-Based Learning curriculum and made shepherding students through a Community Impact Project part of their third-year in the classroom .
By the end of 2020 , ten Teacher-Leaders in the extended program had received training on Change-Based Learning . One Teacher-Leader has even taken the initiative to adapt Change-Based Learning for students who have visual impairments . The third-year Teacher-Leader pilot was also used in conjunction with our UNHCR partnership in Darbnik , in addition to the Seroond School Leadership Pathway project in Tavush .
