Public Policy Pathway : Tavush Talent Initiative
The Tavush region is known as the gateway to Armenia . Situated in the country ’ s northeast , it is home to 125,000 people and a tourism industry with many servicesector jobs . Teach For Armenia has been placing Teacher-Leaders in Tavush since its first cohort , and has developed a strong reputation with the regional government . As such , the Governor of Tavush , Hayk Chobanyan , has become an enthusiastic supporter of Teach For Armenia .
In February 2020 , we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the regional government to attract Teach For Armenia Alumni-Ambassadors to the region with talent and transformation projects in education , tourism , public administration , and other sectors . Through this Tavush Talent Initiative , the governor appointed four Alumni- Ambassadors to key roles , including a position as his Press Secretary and an Education Expert responsible for overseeing the region ’ s emergency response in supporting internally displaced students who fled the war . The Seroond School Leadership Pathway ( a . k . a . Seroond ) is also part of the Tavush Talent Initiative .
