Bombshell by Kara Rapacz and Pam Garcia by Kara Rapacz KARA’S STORY Witnessing women and teen girls continually tear each other down and completely lack self-confidence led to the development of Pixie Power Fitness. I am the mother of three and the assistant principal at a high school. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I was always the overweight girl who wasn’t afraid to work out and work hard. For some reason, I just could not shed the weight. I remember the awful feeling of having no self-confidence and being embarrassed to walk into a room. After having my kids, I decided that I had to set a good example for them, so I began working out regularly and really tried to follow a fairly clean diet. About two years ago, I noticed that my daughter was starting to get upset when her clothes were a little tight, and she was becoming very timid. At that moment, I made a commitment that I would not let her lead a life of feeling ashamed. I would take my kids to the park with me, and we would ride our bikes or run. My husband and I were truly committed to having our kids see us lead a healthy lifestyle. Things were going well at home, but I hated seeing so many of my friends struggle with their self-confidence; Pam and I spent countless hours talking about this problem. In September of 2013 we decided that it was time to quit complaining about the problem and start fixing it! Kara and her husband I was on my way to church one morning, feeling particularly frustrated with the issue of how to get women to believe in themselves and work together with each other. I called Pam and said, “If we ever start a business, I’ve got the business plan!” Pam responded with, “That’s great because I’ve got our business name!” The stars must have been aligned because even without talking about it before, we had been privately dreaming up this company for some time.
