Active Schools’ Year of Young People 2018 In 2018 Scotland is putting its young people in the spotlight, celebrating their talents, contributions and creating new opportunities for them to shine. We want to be able to give our young children at Auchterarder the best possible opportunities to be able to express themselves through culture, sport and other activities. We therefore need you to come forward and volunteer to help make a difference. Make it your New Year resolution to help volunteer. Volunteering gives you the chance to give something back to the community and really make a difference to the pupils at TCSOA. It provides you with an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge and is very rewarding. Do you have a spare hour before school, at lunch or after school? Are you motivated and enjoy a challenge? If so I would love to hear from you. Please email Lcmackay @ liveactive. co. uk Active Schools’ would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and an Active New Year.

The U18 Girls’ game came out on top against their opponents Biggar, snatching a 39-29 victory in the U18’ s School Cup final. The girls put up a great fight and in the end they were victorious. The game was difficult as it tested the strength of the girls individually and as a team. The Auchterarder girls were first to put points on the board with a try from our number 6 Jess Fyfe; Jess went on to score a second try making it 10-0 in the first 15 minutes of the game. Biggar went on to score 2 trys and a conversion, changing the score to 10-12. Our number 12 Caitlin Steptoe set out and scored 2 trys with our number 10 Maddie Low putting in a smashing conversion setting the score at 24-12. Biggar soon put some puts on the board making the score 24-19 at half time. Second half under way and it was off to a rocky start. Biggar had equalised. Our scrum half Roma Fraser saw the gap and went for it making the score 29-24. Biggar soon equalised making the score 29-29. The heat was on. Try time, Beth Streets soon set the score to 34-29 as she saw the gap and went straight for the line. The final try of the game came from Caitlin McLaren. The game had ended 39-29 and the tears came flooding in- tears of excitement and joy, but also tears of sadness as this was to be the final Cup Game for some of our senior players. Our very own Caitlin McLaren was awarded‘ Man of the Match’. From your Captains( Caitlin McLaren and Beth Streets) a massive thank you to everyone who came to watch, those who played and those who didn’ t, your presence and encouragement got us through to the end. A special thank you to Mr Shore who had every bit of faith in the girls from the beginning, even though they had only played one game before the final. The girls put on an incredible performance and deserved the win.
