School of Tennis Christmas Round-Up (Rory Docherty)
As part of the School of Tennis, TCSoA entered a team into the Scottish Secondary School
Tennis Team Championships. Four boys throughout the school were selected to take part
in our first round fixture against James Young High School, Livingston. Sam, Rory, Findlay
and Alex played well against difficult opponents in challenging weather conditions at the
Meadows in Edinburgh. Mr Urquhart was on hand to provide a much needed shelter in
his tent at the end of the matches. Sadly we did not progress through to the second round
but there are potential plans for another school tournament later in the year.
Also members of the School of Tennis WAP has been continuing to receive coaching from
Adam Brown at Gleneagles on Friday afternoons and are all developing their tennis skills.
We are going to have a School of Tennis tournament in our final sessions at Gleneagles.

School of Rugby Christmas Round Up (Caitlin McLaren)
As the U18’s girls recently won their Cup Final we want this achievement to encourage
other girls to pick up the sport. We have also seen a high rise in the number of girls in the
younger years training on a Thursday after school. This allows girls to express themselves
and gain confidence.
There are other opportunities for the girls to take up rugby - Tuesday after school,
Thursday after school and during WAP on Friday afternoons. WAP is full of excitement
and joy with the benefit of fitness. Mr Shore has put in the time to get fantastic
equipment including new balls, slalom poles, cones, ladders and parachutes to help the
girls develop their skills in the sport.
Both Beth and I encourage all girls to come along to the after school clubs as there is
enjoyment. Its upbeat and a perfect way to mix the year groups and make friends.
Thursday after school is for S1 - S3 girls. Tuesday after school is for S4 - S6 girls. WAP is for
S1 - S6.
If you have any worries or queries please speak to Tennis Ambassadors - Caitlin McLaren
or Beth Streets.
