Community Reading Café
As part of our celebration of Book Week Scotland the School Library hosted a pop up
reading café for pupils in S1 and S2 during lunchtimes. On Wednesday 29 November the
café welcomed some of our newly appointed Intergenerational Volunteers. During this
special lunch pupils enjoyed reading with our volunteers and enthusiastically spoke of
their reading and learning. It was wonderful to see everyone so engrossed and engaged
in their reading. The pupils remarked, “I really liked reading in this way”, “I want to come
every week” and “I liked that I could read and talk about my reading and that there was
someone right there to help, I thought that the lady was really lovely”. There were more
than a few positive comments about the special lunch of soup, sandwiches and treats!
Here at TCSoA we are very passionate about reading and we look forward to extending
the support of our intergenerational workers as it was clear to see that reading together
can make reading better! Watch this space…

P6MR’s Reverse Advent Calendar
Primary 6MR have been taking part in a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ during the month of
December. Pupils were assigned a date and were asked to donate items for the
Foodbank in Perth. The purpose of this activity was to familiarise them with the Christian
festival of Advent and further develop their understanding of compassion and generosity
towards others. We have been overwhelmed with the kind donations. Thank You!
