Jane Ross will be vital to Scotland's hopes at UEFA Women's Euro 2017, but she can already look back upon an incredible 2016.
She joined her current club Manchester City in November 2015, joining from the Damallsvensken side Vittsjo GIK. Last season, City had run Chelsea close to the WSL 1 title, but finished two points behind them.
Over the winter, City looked to improve their squad and the signing of Ross proved critical towards the success they would have.
Invincibles
Manchester City's 1-1 draw in their final game against Birmingham City saw them go through the whole 2016 WSL 1 season unbeaten.
Their season began in a nervy manner against Notts County where both sides missed penalties, but City secured the win thans to Steph Houghton's late free-kick.
Ross scored her first goal for her new club in her next match as City defeated Arsenal 2-0. The victory saw Manchester City climb up to first, where they would remain for the whole season.
Over the next four matches, Ross scored two more goals as City won 18 points from their opening six matches.
City drew back-to-back games with Liverpool, with Ross getting the critical equaliser in the second game.
Ross' brace helped City return to winning ways against Notts County and in September, they faced crucial games against their title rivals.
Against Arsenal, Jane Ross scored the only goal in a 1-0 winner. Then, against Chelsea, City won 2-0 in front of a record home crowd of 4,096.
Manchester City reached the Semi-Final of the 2015-16 SSE FA Women's Cup having beaten Liverpool and Sporting Club Albion – and they faced the holders Chelsea. Jane Ross' close range finish had given the City the lead, but Ji So-Yun's late free-kick forced extra-time. And with the tie going to penalties, Fran Kirby stepped up and scored a last-gasp winner to knock City out of the competition.
Man City secured a domestic double, beating Birmingham in the final, that despite officially being played at a neutral venue was played at Manchester City's home stadium. After a goaless 90 minutes, Lucy Bronze headed in the winner in extra-time.
City are still in the Champions League, having beaten Russian side Zvezda Perm and will play Brondy in the Round of 16.
