Hosts the Largest Terrestrial Mammal Migration in the World This natural wonder of the world contains the oldest ecosystem on the planet, the Serengeti ecosystem. Within its boundaries is the famous Serengeti National Park, known for the massive annual migration of more than 1.75 million animals, including wildebeest and zebras. The Serengeti is located in northern Tanzania and extends to Kenya. The small portion of the Serengeti that lies in Kenya is called Maasai Mara. The park known internationally for its incredible scenery and magnificent wildlife. In fact, this park is often the source of the wildlife footage shown on television and in documentaries All three ‘big cats’ can be seen easily throughout the Serengeti. Lions roam everywhere, Cheetahs are common on the southeastern plains, and leopards can often be found lazing in one of the big trees along the Seronera River.
