Zanzibar
Has some of the Best Beaches in Africa
Zanzibar is home to numerous beaches which meet clear Indian Ocean
water. Zanzibar is a small paradise for divers and snorkelers with coral
and limestone forming the base of one of the world’s most unforgettable
reefs. Diving and snorkeling tours are hosted at the various marine parks
around the island. On a typical visit, tourists can expect to see dolphins, moray
eels, lion fish, octopus and lobster among the colorful marine life. For a relaxing day
or evening, take a traditional dhow cruise around the small islands. This is the best
way to view the sunset on the water, and most tours have refreshments on board.
When visiting Zanzibar, don’t miss one of the towns famous spice tours. There
are numerous coconut and spice plantations around the island that offer daily
tours. Zanzibar is famous for its variety of spices such as clove, nutmeg, black

as well as cosmetics and medicines. Within the culinary world of Zanzibar exist
both well-known fruits, such as bananas, coconuts and lime, and also lesser
known ones, including jackfruit, breadfruit and Durian (also known as the
“King of Fruit”). Zanzibar is also known for its salt and seaweed farms that
may be visited by tourists on request.
