Procedures will be determined solely by the Nominating Committee.
Committee Voting: Unless there is an overriding rule to the contrary, a
majority vote of the Committee becomes the decision of the Committee.
Committee Decorum: Members of the Committee must be unbiased and
remain neutral while performing their Committee duties.
1.
Members of the Committee cannot campaign for a particular
candidate during general meetings of the Chapter (unless the
Committee Member is campaigning for herself).
2.
Members of the Committee cannot wear or hold campaign materials
for a particular candidate during general meetings of the Chapter
(unless the Committee Member is campaigning for herself).
3.
A Member of the Committee who is found campaigning for a
particular candidate (subject to the exceptions above) during
general meetings of the Chapter or acting in a biased manner shall
be removed from the Committee. The vacated position will be
filled by the Chairwoman as limited by the Chapter Bylaws
regarding eligibility of candidates.
4.
Members are not to discuss the work of the Committee outside
of the Committee group.
The Committee shall submit proposed procedures for the election process
at the January Mothers’ Meeting. The Chapter shall consider the
procedures and approve a final process by a majority of votes cast by the
active Members in Good Standing.
The Chairwoman shall announce, via email, the opening of the campaign
season at least ninety (90) days prior to Election Day (January 19, 2011).
The announcement shall include:
1.
The names of the open positions
2.
The minimum requirements to be a candidate for open positions
3.
Any deadlines for submitting documentation necessary to declare a
Member’s candidacy for a particular office
4.
The date and location of the election
5.
A copy of the final approved, nomination and election
procedures. The Chairwoman has up to two weeks after the
procedures are approved to fulfill this particular requirement
Once the deadline for declaring to run for office has passed, the
Committee shall clear the credentials of potential candidates and publish
(via email) a slate of names for each office. This information shall also be
presented at the March Mothers’ Meeting.
The Committee shall also publish or re-publish (via email) the specific
campaign procedures and guidelines that all candidates must follow
throughout the remainder of the campaign season.
The Committee shall set forth, in writing (via email), the process for
candidates running as un-slated candidates (referred to as candidates
that “come from the floor”.)
The Committee shall be available to answer campaign questions.
