facing many troubles the project got started in the year 1911 and finished in the year 1931. During the construction of this dam around 10,000 workers lost their homes but they got sheltered providing necessary facilities. Now, the water supply from this dam is utilized by the people of Mandya, Mysore and even the Bengaluru city.

9. Srisailam Dam: This dam is built across the river Krishna in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh state and is the 2nd largest hydroelectric project in India. The srisailam dam was built in the deep valley of Nallamala hills. The dam construction started in the year 1960 and after many delays got completed in 1980. The purpose for construction of this dam was to provide water supply, power supply and irrigation facilities.
