facing many troubles the project got started in the year 1911 and finished in the year 1931 . During the construction of this dam around 10,000 workers lost their homes but they got sheltered providing necessary facilities . Now , the water supply from this dam is utilized by the people of Mandya , Mysore and even the Bengaluru city .
