● The installed capacity of the power generation plant near the dam is 32
Megawatt power and provides irrigation to around 2,71,000 acres of
agricultural lands across 12 districts.
8. Krishnarajasagar Dam :
The Krishnarajasagar dam was constructed across the river Kaveri in Mandya of
Karnataka state in the year 1924. The person who initiated the proposal of this
project was again Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshvarayya. He observed that people
in the region of Mandya and Mysore witnessed mass shifting from their home
land to the adjoining areas during hot summer as the crops failed due to
