10. Idukki   Dam : 
The   Idukki   dam   was   constructed   across   the   river   Periyar   in   a   narrow   valley 
between   granite   hills,   Kuravathi   and   Kuravan   in   the   state   of   Kerala.   The 
construction   of   the   dam   began   in   the   year   1969   and   got   completed   in   1973. 
Idukki   dam   is   one   of   the   highest   arch   dams   in   the   Asia.   The   dam   water   is   utilized 
for   the   purpose   of   irrigational   facilities   and   for   power   generation.   The   dam   also 
attracts   tourists   for   its   attractive   waterfalls.
