LAKEVILLE C O M M U N I T Y G U I D E 2 0 1 9 AIRLAKE QA1 in Airlake Industrial Park Anchors of economic impact Airlake Airport and Airlake Industrial Park and two partners in the community that are major reasons why the city has such a strong regional foothold for business. With ready access to the Twin Cities, Airlake Airport has a single 4,098-by-75-foot runway and full-length par- allel taxiway. The airport offers a precision instrument approach to Runway 30 and a non-precision approach to Runway 12. Pilots use common traffic advisory proce- dures flying to and from the airport, which has no air traf- fic control tower. Although used primarily by recreational pilots, Airlake Airport is located near one of Minnesota’s largest indus- trial parks, making it ideally suited for related business aviation needs as well. A fixed base operator provides fu- eling and other aircraft maintenance services. Airlake has a total annual economic output of $13.2 million and supports 104 jobs, including 31 directly tied to on-airport businesses. There are 142 aircraft based at Airlake Airport and in 2018, there were 32,986 landings and takeoffs. Future plans include new hangars in the southwest cor- ner of the airfield, expanding the primary runway to 4,600 feet, and developing a 2,500-foot crosswind runway. Now situated near the airport, three decades ago the Airlake Industrial Park was little more than a vision. To- day it is the cornerstone of Lakeville’s business develop- ment. Located just two miles east of I-35 on Highway 70, Airlake Industrial Park is now Minnesota’s second-largest industrial park by acreage and is home to more than 100 businesses that employ thousands of people. Fueled by steady and stable growth over the years across a wide cross-section of industries, Airlake Indus- trial Park now has more than 4 million square feet of manufacturing and distribution facilities. This diverse and rapidly growing workforce is being drawn from the metropolitan area as well as from nearby rural communi- ties providing a unique combination with a strong work ethic. Airlake has platted lots available ranging in size along with many un-platted parcels of various sizes. More information is at https://www.lakevillemn. gov/186/Community-Economic-Development.
