Heritage Library, located at 20085 Heritage Drive, is part of the Dakota County Library system, which includes nine branch libraries, a bookmobile and shares borrowing priv- ileges with the city of South St. Paul Public Library. The renovation and addition for Heritage Library and License Center in Lakeville is progressing as part of a Dakota County Library System project. The interim library location is at City Hall. The library is being ex- panded by about 2,900 square feet. This expansion will allow for the creation of a new iLab/Maker space and increase the size of the community meeting room. Other improvements include an enhanced children’s space, more efficient staff workroom and quiet reading room. The license center is being expanded by about 1,100 square feet. The library system’s collection houses nearly one mil- lion volumes and the library circulates nearly four million items per year. The collection also includes thousands of videos and audio materials. Any county resident can ap- ply for a library card in person at any of the nine Dakota County Library branches or South St. Paul Library. Accept- able identifi cation, such as a driver’s license, state non- 20 |LAKEVILLE | Community Guide 2019-20 drivers ID or checkbook, is needed. There is no fee. Computers are available for use by the public in all Da- kota County libraries. A library card registered with Dako- ta County Library or a photo ID is required to use a public computer. Wireless Internet access is available at all buildings. Printing is available from most computers. Free computer classes are offered at all library locations.
