LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Sun ‘N Lake Members,
As we head toward the end of the summer season, we are
focused on turf health on both courses. On Deer Run our
staff has been busy with tree trimming to help turf and
tree health as well as playability. The crew will also be
working on smoothing out cart path transition areas such
as #17. This project will greatly improve the path entrances
and exits.
On Turtle Run, work will focus on the overall health of
fairways and rough primarily on the back nine. We still
have some areas to heal up and staff will be doing some
extra fertilizer and topdressing heading into October. In
addition, sod will be used to finish off some weak areas
before we get to season. Also, like Deer Run, there are
some cart path transition areas that will receive some
needed attention such as entering the path at #7 green.
In September’s final course closings, we will also begin
some of our detail items such as straw and coquina work
for aesthetics. Overall, on both courses, greens are healthy
and items such as verticutting and topdressing will be
done frequently heading into season.
In closing, it has been a challenging past several months
adjusting to these very difficult times. My team has done
a fantastic job under these circumstances improving our
product and I am very proud of them. It is remarkable
what they have accomplished this summer through this
pandemic.
Keeping it green,
6
