Cox has taken another step in becoming carbon neutral by 2034 : At its Chesapeake , Va ., regional office , Cox Communications Virginia installed a large solar photovoltaic system capable of converting sunlight into 620,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually — powering about 10 % of the office ’ s electricity and eliminating 423 tons of carbon emissions per year . Over 30 Team Cox volunteers assembled 600 STEAM kits for Scott Elementary School , which recently became a STEAM-certified school in the Atlanta Public Schools system . These STEAM kits , which included personal inspirational notes , will help prepare students ( the majority of whom are economically disadvantaged ) for their integrated curriculum driven by problem-solving , discovery , exploratory projects and problem-based learning .

To empower older individuals to live more independently , remain connected with family and friends , and improve their quality of life and wellness , Cox Communications opened the Cox Tech Tank in San Diego . Through a partnership with San Diego Oasis , this innovative center supports individuals ages 50 and up with workshops , one-on-one training and demonstrations of Cox products . In its first month , the Cox Tech Tank served more than 300 community members , providing access

Cox Communications New Orleans volunteers helped refurbish New Hope Community Development Center .
Hurricane Ida damaged New Hope Community Development Center , which provides afterschool and summer activities , and mentoring services for dozens of children in low-income families in Kenner , La . As part of our community commitment through the Cox 34 by 34 Act to Impact Roadshow , Cox Communications New Orleans helped the nonprofit recover as volunteers painted , cleaned and made repairs . They refreshed the learning / collaborative spaces being transformed into technology labs ; assembled new chairs and tables ; and connected the labs with hardwired internet and Wi-Fi , bridging the digital divide and investing in long-term community success .
