nnovation characterizes
anticipatory action approaches.
As a participatory consultation exercise, a workshop was held in June 2022 to prepare the Feasibility Study in Colombia, with the participation of representatives from several areas of the Colombian Red Cross, including Disaster Risk Management, Health and Peace Building. Key strategic partners for the prioritized hazards also participated in
the workshop.
The workshop allowed the identification of hazards with the greatest historical impacts in the country, and the most feasible within the framework of elements of the Forecast-Based Financing mechanism: floods associated with La Niña events, droughts related to El Niño, epidemics (linked to vector transmission) and complex crises (oriented to armed conflict and other situations of violence).
In this sense, the Colombian Red Cross joins the innovation in anticipatory action by taking the lead on the development of Early Action Plans focused on non-hydrometeorological hazards.
