antipatory action capacities in the Americas

nder the framework of

the regional strategy to strengthen capacities, the first edition of the Training of Trainers (ToT) for the advanced course on Forecast-Based Financing was held in august 2022 in Quito, Ecuador, with the participation of 17 specialists with diverse profiles, including FbF focal points or coordinators.

The profiles also included Disaster Risk Management managers and presidents of National Society branches.

Sabina Ortíz, national risk reduction technician of the Ecuadorian Red Cross, shared that "the training was not only a learning space but also an enriching exchange of the challenges we share with colleagues who promote anticipatory action in our region".

The workshop was an opportunity to validate the contents included in the four modules of the course, which is focused on Red Cross staff and volunteers potentially involved in Early Action Plan activations at the country level. The modules include an introduction to the FbF mechanism, a deep dive to the Early Action Plans, among others.
