As the North West University (NWU)
celebrates ten years since thr
merger, a great academic, Mr Re-An
Muller celebrates his tenth year registered with the NWU. From being a
first time undergraduate student to
being a lecturer in the same University, Re-An is indeed born and bred
in the NWU Vaal.
Academic Journey
He started his first year in BCom
International Trade and Marketing in 2005, “My first three years in
University were very fun and playful. I was involved in most Campus
activities, living the ‘Varsity life’, I
had the time of my life” he says. He
then completed his Post Graduate
Certificate in Education in 2008, and
then became a Teacher. In 2009 he
completed his Honours in Business
Management. As we speak, he has
a Master’s Degree and is working on
his PhD. All in all, Re-An is registered at the NWU Vaal for the 10th
time this year.
with distinctions, and when he received his Masters, he was declared
as a top achiever with the best
research in natural science.
When he gave his very first presentation in Germany in December
2012, he had prepared for it day and
night and was applauded for it. “I got
to see that with great work and great
dedication anything is possible”
Re-An says.
His best advice to anyone who
wishes to succeed in life is, “Decide
where you want to go, it is in most
times not enough to know which
Undergraduate qualification you
would like to pursue, it is also very
important to know where you want
to branch to when furthering your
studies” he holds.
A romantic at heart
Re-An is a romantic at heart; he
met his wife in a school bus on
their way to a camp. At the
time, Re-An was the guitarist
of a band, Elior (‘God is my
light’ in Hebrew) that was to
play at the very same camp.
He befriended his future
wife-to-be there, and they
started dating six months
later.
When he was ready to
propose, he hired a school
bus with which he and his
wife were going to Parys,
just the two of them. In the
bus, he asked her to marry
him.
