GALS TALK Kissable Beauty Lip Tips S Lebogang Masemula Spring is just around the corner and a lot of us ladies should start investing in cute classy lipstick. Lip ‘makeup’ is what I call a cherry on top to that stunning outfit. Now, we are all different woman with unique body features. So here’s a makeup tip for every lip shape: 1. Full lips/Wrinkled lips – In order to keep these lips soft and sultry and not take any attention away from the rest of your face, stick with a simple lip moisturizer. Having naturally full lips means you don’t need a ton of lip liner. Just apply a bit of colour without overdoing it. 2. Drooping lips – It’s either all or nothing for this lip shape. First, use a lip pencil and draw just inside your natural lip line, stopping right inside the corners of your mouth. Then use a light lip balm for day and a dark matte lip stain going into night. 3. Uneven lips – Keep the sex appeal going without totally pouty lips. Stay on the glossy side by applying a coloured lip gloss to both lips. If you want to extend your natural lip shape, you can apply your lip liner just beyond the outer corner of your mouth. 4. Thin lips/Flat upper lips – Use a neutral pinky beige liner or lipstick all over the lip. Then top it with a sheer lip gloss to make lips appear more plump and apply it on the cupid’s bow of the upper lip to create more highlight and volume. 5. Oversized upper lip – You’re able to wear a range of colours, from stunning deep shades to soft, toneddown ones. Just dab on a sheer gloss over the top lip to complete your look. 6. Oversized bottom lip – Sheer, neutral colours look best on you. Start off by filling in your lip with a neutral-toned lip liner and topping it with a sheer lipstick for a brilliant finish. Bonus Tip: For a lasting lip colour, put on a sheer coat of foundation, dust compact powder on them and then go in for a desired colour. This helps the lipstick be visible on dark lips. INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT LIPS:  Lips don’t sweat – Lips don’t have sweat glands. Sweat glands help the skin to stay moisturized, that means lips tend to dry out faster than any other parts of the body.  Kissing started in India – According to Dr. Vaugh Bryant, professor of anthropology at Texas A&M University, kissing started in India and spread slowly after soldiers under the command of Alexander the Great 24 - Student 24/7 brought the custom home with them.  The fleshy bump in the middle of your upper lip has a name – The fleshy bump has a few names, including procheilion, labial tubercle, or tuberculum labii superioris.  Lips can be paralyzed – People suffering from a form of facial paralysis known as Bell’s palsy can have trouble smiling or frowning. The condition is caused by damage to the facial nerves.  Blood gives your lips their reddish hue – The skin of the lips is thinner than skin elsewhere on the body, consisting of 3 to 5 cellular layers instead of up to 16. Thinner skin means it’s easier to see the blood vessels underneath. So pucker up, gloss ‘em up, and show off that pretty smile!
