He is well known for his dark and gloomy fantasy films, which are unique and quirky compared to other artists. The way Tim uses the setting, point of view and motifs during his creations, gives off the mood of mystery, he uses point of view without clear transitioning. Tim always captures his film in oversaturated colour, to be able to work together with the scenes, he thought that the colouring within the image is alot more effective than most other aspects- making the audience enjoy it more and capture the mise-en-scene. Another example of his work is "Corpse Bride", described as visually imaginative, and emotionally bittersweet. To produce this movie, they used the technique of stop-motion characters with pre-filmed live actors. The cameras that were used to gather the shots of the puppets were able to hold 100 frames of animation, the team worked together to make sure each frame had the exact right lighting, composition and colour as the models moved. The main technique that he was interested in using was the high angled tracking shot that glides and weaves, this is to show off the sets that he created, you are able to see this usage within the opening scene in the BeetleJuice.
