One Man’s Dream
Have you driven up to Oban along the side of Loch Awe and through the
small town? You will have admired the castle in the loch. You may have
stopped to visit the secret mountain Hydro system.
But have you passed the dark
and mysterious Saint Conan’s
Kirk on the loch side?
It appears gothic from the
exterior and very old of years.
Walter Campbell was an
architect, wood carver and avid
collector, who arrived in
Lochawe in 1878, with his
mother and sister.
The building of St Conan’s Kirk
started in 1881, with a small church, said to be as a result of his mother
