The second Rector for St Oswald’s Revd Alastair I. M. Haggart and the
congregation grew as Simshill and Castlemilk developments were
completed.
In January 1960 the Revd
Leslie J. Green took up the
challenge left by his
predecessors and complete
the programme of extension
planned by the Diocesan
Extension Committee over
thirty years before. A
stewardship campaign in 1962
resulted in plans being drawn
up and an artist’s impression
of the new church appeared.
The first celebration of the
Holy Communion in the new church will also be on the fourteenth Sunday
after Trinity Sunday 11 September 1966). The celebrant was the Primus, the
Most Reverend Francis H Moncriefff, Bishop of the Diocese.
