GOLF PROFESSIONAL UPDATE Schedule of Events Sunday, January 12th – 4-Club Challenge (Make your own Tee Time) Sunday, January 26th – One Day Member-Guest (12:30 Shotgun) This January will be a very different month then what we are used to as a lot of new elements and moving parts will be in play. A few components to the Winter Season that I’d like to discuss will be Golf Cart Traffic, Member Cart Parking, GHIN Handicap Renewal, and a new member event called the 4-Club Challenge. With the Clubhouse Renovation taking place this month, the golf cart traffic pattern will have a slightly different look. As most of you know, the cart path and roundabout behind the clubhouse will be removed. The staging area where golf carts are parked and where bags are loaded will be reversed so that carts will be facing the parking lot instead of the golf course. A new route that goes around the cart barn will be created for golf carts to go out and come in from the golf course. We will also have the appropriate signage to assist golfers with where to go. Member Carts will also have access to the Cart Barn so that they can be parked while members are on the golf course or in the clubhouse. If you haven’t heard, the USGA will be implementing the World Handicap System this month and we expect a lot of questions regarding the new system. With the formation of our Handicap Committee, most questions can be referred to those members through the Golf Shop. There are a lot of new elements that were created that will cause a learning curve and take some getting used too. The price to maintain your handicap through the club has not changed. Any member with charging privileges will be charged the $30 fee to maintain their annual access to the service. Any member without charging privileges will be contacted for approval to maintain the service and must be paid before the end of the month. I’m also excited to announce the creation of a new member event called the 4-Club Challenge! This event will be held on Sunday, January 12th and will be an 18-hole individual net stroke play event. Players will be limited to only 4 clubs for their round and the players with the lowest scores after 18 holes will win this event. This event was recommended by our newly formed Competition Committee and we expect a large and positive turn out for this unique challenge. Members will be required to book their own tee time, register for the event, maintain and handicap and tee off before noon to be eligible. Lastly, we have recently seen some communication issues with members using Comcast as their primary email address. Emails coming from the Golf Shop seem to be either finding the Junk Mailbox or not being delivered at all. For the time being, we recommend using a Gmail address as we have seen no issues with the email provider. If you happen to use Comcast and wish to see email invitations, results or new news from the Golf Shop, please let us know and we will assist you however we can. Sincerely, Jonathan Dick PGA, Head Golf Professional 5
