STEP UP PAGE 5 Boris gives Beaumont gold Beaumont Primary has become the first school in our Local Authority to be awarded a Gold Mark of Excellence by Mayor Boris Johnson in recognition of work encouraging all pupils to attain exceptional results, regardless of their socio-economic background. The Purley School, which has a large percentage of ethnic minority pupils who speak English as a second language, is now part of the London Schools’ Gold Club – a school-to-school improvement programme designed to identify and share outstanding practice. Headteacher Linda Harvey collected the award from Munira Mirza, the Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture, at Mayor Johnson’s first annual education conference in November. Mrs Harvey, who has also been nominated by the National College as a Pupil Premium Systems Leader, said: “We are delighted to receive this recognition of excellence. Our school community works very hard to achieve consistently outstanding results.” For more information please visit www.londonschoolsgoldclub.org.uk or email [email protected] ‘Our school community works very hard to achieve consistently outstanding results.’
