PAGE 14 BE HEALTHY STEP UP Cash for youth sports A new youth sports project is coming to Croydon after ‘It is a great opportunity for us to promote the benefits of an active lifestyle to Croydon’s young people…’ the council was awarded over £43,000 in funding from Sport England's Make your Move initiative. The pilot project in partnership with Fusion lifestyle, aims to engage hundreds of young people in sports activities. The Friday Night Project launches on January 17, 2014, and will offer a variety of sports and fitness activities including dance, swimming, basketball, circuits and dodge ball. Activities will take place at Waddon and South Norwood leisure centres. The programme, which will initially run for 42 weeks, is offering young people one session free when they register via the Facebook page, activities will cost just £2 per week thereafter. Fusion will work in partnership with organisations including The Housing Association, Crystal Palace FC, Movement Factory and Croydon Cougars to ensure top quality coaching and activities are open to young people age 14 and over. Kelly Dummer, Sports & Community Development Manager at Fusion said: "The funding Fusion has received from Sport England will enable us to further improve our service by offering a range of sports and activities to hundreds of young people across Croydon ever Friday night.
