Volunteering to help families
The Croydon CSV Volunteers supporting
Families (VsF) project aims to recruit and train
‘The aim of the project
is to achieve positive
outcomes for the
children and keep the
family together.’
volunteers from the local community to provide
additional support to families whose children are in
the greatest need or are subject to a Child Protection
Plan.
The aim of the project is to achieve positive
outcomes for the children and keep the family
together. CSV volunteers are able to make use of
their experience of family life and can offer the
benefit of that experience to the families that they
support. Volunteers visit the family in their own homes
for 1-2 hours each week, for a minimum of 6 months.
Volunteers can support them by listening, advising
and giving practical help and frequent contact.
The VsF project helps by:
•
Providing basic parenting help in the home
•
Helping families access local services
•
Being good parenting role models and offering
support to boost self esteem
•
Empowering parents and carers to improve
their ability to set boundaries and routines.
