Go wild in Croydon
Young people in Croydon are being
encouraged to reconnect with nature during
2014 through a series of council-promoted
events designed to celebrate the great
outdoors.
The season kicks off at 7pm on Friday 24
January with a screening of the new film,
‘Project Wildthing’ at Pinewood Scout Camp
off Shirley Church Road.
The film has been made with the help of
‘Kickstarter’ funding to highlight an issue which
has been termed ‘nature deficit disorder’. This
refers to the problems young people can
experience when they spend too little time
outside in the natural environment.
As well as the film there will be camp fire
popcorn and toasted marshmallows and
plenty of time to talk to staff about the many
local wild venues, training courses and
activities on offer in Croydon.
Bookings are advised as space is limited
and although the event is free voluntary
donations will be asked for on the door.
