In terms of curriculum design, what should we be building into our school curriculum that will help STEAM take root? School curriculum should start with fun first. A playful mindset is one that is primed for learning.  The more that curriculum can include hands on projects the more relevant the concepts will be, and the more ownership the students will take.   Project-based learning generated from students' own interests is paramount. As most "real world" experiences are almost by definition interdisciplinary, encourage students to think-and-create through the individual elements as they are relevant to the project while keeping the "big picture" in mind. Equally important is contextualized design thinking curriculum that allows students to codify their thinking, both creative and critical.
