the art of creativity by Annie Preece I’ve always loved that one of the titles our Heavenly Parents claim is Creator. As children of God, we have inherited the gift of creation. While a lot of emphasis can be placed upon our ability to create life and eternal families someday, we can begin creating long before that. Even as young children we have an inherent desire to create things, build Annie Morgan Preece is an artist living in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband and four children. When not painting, she enjoys singing opera and musical theatre to her children and dancing with them in the kitchen. While we many not see a toddler playing with Legos as creating, that’s exactly what they’re doing! Often when thinking about creativity, our minds turn to art or music or something quite obvious but creativity extends beyond those things. Yes, it includes things like painting, playing an instrument, ceramics, and photography, but it takes creativity to do things like cook or bake, landscape a yard, throw a party, write stories, or code programs and apps. There are so many outlets for creativity, it’s important to think outside the box (hello, more creativity!) and notice how many different ways people use their creativity. We all have it. Let’s put it to good use!
