(EAl) reminded vestry members that there is a protocol and paperwork that must be completed to report any incidents relating to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (adults or children). All those volunteering to be Sunday School helpers require to submit PVG checks. Rev Lesley-ann spoke about the members of the local and wider community whom she met in the course of her work and that they now knew where St Oswald’s was, open and welcoming. “Community in Unity” coffee morning & stalls, was discussed and confirmation that letters of invitation had been sent to local schools and churches, community groups & politicians. A new advertising banner was hanging on the railings publicising the event. Volunteers required – Please don’t wait to be asked! Setting up – access after 5pm on Friday 3 November 2017. Event and clearing up - Access from 9am, Saturday 4 November 2017 to offer your help on the stalls, serve at the tables in the tea-room area, wash the dishes, clear up at 12:30. Rev Lesley-ann proposed that in future the Vestry was divided into two parts and it was agreed to trial this proposal. Diocesan Youth Officer, Ami Byres from St John’s Dumfries, was looking for a venue to hold a regular SEC youth fellowship get together on a Sunday and StO’s was the proposed venue for this new activity. The youth of the church will meet at St Oswald’s on a six-weekly basis. The Vestry was a delighted for a youth fellowship to make use of the premises and members spent some time reminiscing on their personal youth fellowship exploits, especially when they heard about the sleep-over planned at St Columba’s in Edinburgh on 28 & 29 October 2017!!
