News CCP Project News The new Learning CCP members have been busy planning & Disability & Autism preparing for the new Partnership Board. Partnership Board This is a meeting where local people come together to decide what will make things Margaret better for people with Learning Disabilities Krowicki and people with Autism. Speak Out has CCP Member taken the lead in re-launching this and we had our first meeting at the end of April. Margaret Krowicki co-chaired with James Hearn from the Council and 5 CCP members took part, as well as professionals. James Hearn Hounslow Council CCP Member Punam Sharma said “It was better because it was smaller and there were more people with learning disabilities. We had small groups so it was easier to talk.” Punam Sharma CCP Member We agreed that the new Board will meet every 2 months & we will focus on one topic. CCP will be meeting with groups of people with learning disabilities to make sure they have a say about what is talked about. In May we talked to a group at Community Access Service about things that are important to them. People told us they want more chances to volunteer and to get paid jobs. Sarah Jaspaul Capital Call Taxi Service Closure? The next Board meeting is in July & is about things that people do in the day. There have been lots of changes in day services in Hounslow. If you want to share your experiences or get involved give Sarah or Jaspaul a call. CCP members have been busy campaigning about the possible closure of the Capital Call taxi service. Members have been to meetings with Transport for London and Margaret met with Mary MacLeod, MP who is helping us with this work. 2
