Speak Out in Hounslow Projects
Voice of Us Drama It’s become clear from outreach workshops
that people are concerned about government cuts to benefits & day centre closures.
The Voice of Us are making a new play about
this which we hope to perform at the Civic
Centre to Councillors and other influential
people.
We recently performed our play True Colours
at Ethnic Minorities Advocacy Group,
Richmond’s Communities Stand Together
event. The story of the play showed how hate
can create more hate and featured different
examples of Hate Crime. There was a valuable
discussion after the play where the police,
Councillors and members of other interest
groups tried to find solutions to problems
presented.
We had fun running forum theatre workshops with a group at the Community Access
Tuesday drop-in.

We visited a group who are like us but on the
other side of London! They are called The
Powerhouse and are a group of women with
Learning Disabilities who make Forum Theatre plays. The play we made together is
about ‘First Times’ and we hope to perform it
together again.
The band have been jamming together and
trying out writing songs about lots of things
including sunken ships and being famous!
The group is fun and creative. You don’t have
to be able to play an instrument just come
along and have a go! Contact Bryony to find
out more about getting involved.
