Geography Trip To Croatia

Over the October half term holiday, 30 girls from years 10, 11 and 12, as well as 3 teachers, visited Croatia. We departed from Heathrow airport, excited and keen to learn more about this foreign land as only very few of us had visited Croatia previously.

After we landed in Zagreb and drove for roughly 3 hours in the coach, with our guide V explaining the history behind some towns we passed on the way, we arrived at our hostel in Lovran. Upon entering my room, I was instantly captivated by the stunning view of the vast ocean within 200 metres ahead of us. Also, as the day that we had arrived was 'The Festival of the Chestnut' we visited the local market which was not only selling chestnuts, but had a stage at the heart of it where people were dancing and having a great time.

The following day, we set out on a boat cruise to the island of Cres. We climbed up a rather steep hill but it was worth it, as the views from the island (of the sea and an island in the distance) were remarkable. In addition, we learnt more about the little town of Beli. We also learnt that Cres island is the home of the griffon vulture and is inhabited by approximately 70 pairs of vultures.

The next day we departed from our first hostel to go white water rafting. Everyone had been looking forward to this day and luckily the sun had come out at just the right time. After splitting ourselves into 3 groups, we began paddling frantically to ensure that our group would win the race. Some of us decided to jump into a small waterfall and this was exhilarating!

"Some of us decided to jump into a small waterfall..."

This is us!
