imbedded within a small life ring (8" diameter); three awesome
reverse glass paintings, to be hung diagonally, of the Titanic,
Olympic and Britannic (7"x7"); an unusual stove pipe picture
with a full color rendering of the August Victoria/Columbia of
the Hamburg-American Line (9½” diameter) housed within a
larger frame; a White Star Line R.M.S. Celtic framed
hankerchief (11"x11"); finally, a beautiful color painting of an
advertisement for the Cunard White Star (‘See American This
Year! Apply Within’) in excellent condition (10"x13"). A sweet
group of maritime-themed framed items that would provide

/D 1912 WHITE STAR LINE ‘TITANIC’
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SYMPATHY ............ PH $500-700
SCARCE White Star Line card (5¼”x3¼”), mailed Tuesday
April 23, 1912, little more than a week after the ‘Titanic’ sank,
and only a few days after survivors arrived in New York. Card,
no doubt sent in response to cabled messages, addressed to
Brighton German Bank of Cincinnati, OH, and reads: ‘The
White Star Line most gratefully acknowledges the expression
of your deep sympathy, and shares with you profound sorrow
for all to whom the loss of the S.S. “Titanic” has brought great
bereavement.’ Couple light spots on card, light soiling to
transmittal cover. This is first and only one we’ve seen. Fine.
