HQ REPORT
President
Namaste and Jai shree Krishna
As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shree Prajapati Association( UK), I am sure we will all be feeling proud of our heritage and what we have done to preserve it as much as we can. At the same time we may also be asking if there is any need for our future existence. You may say this is a negative thought, but I think it requires thoughts and steering it into something positive.
I vaguely remember the establishment of SPA( UK), as it was around the time I got married. My father in law, Shree Govindbhai Mistry was one of the founder members and I used to see SPA( UK) officers meetings at his house on a regular basis. But, I clearly remember the journey from that time to where we are today, as I have been part of the organisation for many years. I will say that in spite of all the difficulties and challenging requirements, we as an organisation have achieved a lot. You will read several articles in this copy of Sandesh on what each branch and many individuals have done to benefit our members and the wider society. As a registered charity we have undertaken many initiatives to support good causes. As I have said before, many similar organisations envy our achievements and we are seen as a leader on many fronts. I believe the main reasons for this success are our unity and passion to serve the community.
However, our journey should not end here. We must strive to find ways of filling the cracks that are appearing, which if not tackled will endanger our existence. I say this because, for whatever reasons, we have started to feel that the need to be part of SPA seem to be diminishing. Parents are not taking the trouble to bring and encourage children to take part in SPA activities; therefore threatening the recruitment of young Prajapati members in good numbers to keep SPA going. There is going to be a finite amount of time for the current generation to continue performing. It may be that SPA is not providing what the new generation want. If that is the case we want to hear from both parents and young people on what the missing links are and how we can create a positive environment for our members to thrive in.
Member participation has been highlighted as the key issue that is concerning every branch of SPA. To address this, every branch has been requested to canvass their membership and find out how we can make improvements. I personally urge members to tell us why member participation is reducing and what you want SPA to do. If you find it easier to contact me, please drop me an email or call me.
I thank you all for your support to SPA over the past 40 years. I hope your undivided support will continue and wish you a Happy Deepawali and Nutan Varsha Abhinandan.
Jitubhai Mistry, President SPA( UK)
